Finding Rest Within the Storm

Psalm 34:18

It is easy to believe that God is only present when the sky is clear and our hearts are light. Yet, the truth is that He does His deepest work within the messy, painful chapters of our lives. When you feel overwhelmed by anxiety or disappointment, know that those moments do not signal His absence, but rather His proximity. As it is written in Psalm 34:18, 'Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.'

You do not need to perform, succeed, or put on a brave face to earn His attention today. In the quiet corners of your kitchen or the lonely moments of your commute, He is already there, holding the pieces of your weary heart. His presence does not always mean an immediate change in your circumstances, but it does mean a change in your capacity to endure. You are held by a strength that is far greater than your own, and that strength is sufficient for whatever this day demands of you.

Take a deep breath and let yourself be still for a moment. You are allowed to be honest about your struggles; God is not intimidated by your tears or your questions. Instead, He invites you to rest in the reality that He is walking right beside you, shielding you with His grace. Today, trust that the same God who commands the wind and the waves is the very same God who is whispering peace over your anxious thoughts, right here and right now.
