Finding Beauty in Every Season
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are told, 'In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.' When life feels like a vibrant spring, it is easy to offer thanks. But what about the winters of our souls? When the days feel gray and the tasks of motherhood or work feel relentless, gratitude often feels like the furthest thing from our hearts. Yet, this command is not a suggestion based on our comfort; it is a steady anchor designed to hold us fast when the tides of life change.
Gratitude is a spiritual discipline that trains our eyes to see God’s hand in the ordinary and the difficult alike. It requires us to stop and acknowledge that even in the middle of our waiting, our striving, or our hurting, God is still good. Choosing to voice our thanks—even when it feels like a sacrifice of praise—shifts our perspective from the heaviness of our circumstances to the magnitude of His faithfulness. We are not thanking Him for the struggle itself, but for His presence that remains constant within it.
Today, I invite you to cultivate a rhythm of stillness. Whether you are walking through a harvest of plenty or a season of barrenness, pause and name three things you know to be true about the Lord. Let these truths become the foundation of your prayer. As you practice this, watch how your heart begins to soften and how the light of His grace illuminates the space around you. You are held, you are seen, and you are deeply loved in every season.
