Finding Rest in His Power
Isaiah 40:29
He gives power to the weak; and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:29
There are days when the sunrise feels more like an alarm clock for a race you never signed up to run. Perhaps you are balancing the needs of your family, the demands of a workplace, or the quiet, internal battle of persistent worry. By mid-afternoon, the initial energy you started with has evaporated, leaving you feeling thin, brittle, and entirely spent. It is in these moments of profound exhaustion that we often feel most tempted to pull away from God, thinking we must first 'fix' ourselves before we can approach Him.
But the truth of Scripture is the complete opposite of our human instinct. God does not wait for us to be polished or energized before He meets us; He specifically targets the weary. He is the Creator who never slumbers, and His capacity for grace is not drained by our constant needs. When you reach the end of your own endurance, you have not reached the end of His. You are not a burden to Him; you are a beloved daughter who is invited to exchange your fragile, human capacity for His inexhaustible power.
Today, I invite you to stop striving for just a few minutes. Whether you are folding laundry, commuting, or sitting in a quiet office, acknowledge your need for Him out loud. Tell Him exactly how tired you are. Let the reality of His promise in Isaiah settle into your heart—that He delights in increasing your strength when you have none of your own left to give. You do not need to muster up a brave face or a surge of productivity today; you only need to lean into the One who holds the world together while He holds you, too.
