The Summer Solstice

Genesis 1:14

For Signs and Seasons

God set the lights in the sky for signs and for seasons, and for days and years. The rhythm of light and dark, the turning of seasons, the longest day and the shortest — these are not accidents. They are a kind of speech.

For thousands of years, the solstice was a moment of attention. Something is at its fullest. Something is turning. There is meaning in noticing.

The Spiritual Practice of the Season

Summer invites a particular kind of attentiveness — to light, to growth, to abundance, to the longer days that give space for reflection and rest.

Today, go outside if you can. Notice the light. Notice what is growing. The God who set the seasons in motion is the same God who attends to your days. Let the longest day be a moment of receiving.
