Tending Your Own Garden

Galatians 6:5

Each One Must Carry Their Own Load

Paul writes that each one must carry their own load — and yet elsewhere says to bear one another's burdens. These are not contradictions. There is a difference between helping someone with what is too heavy for them, and carrying what is theirs to carry.

We overstep when we take on responsibility that belongs to someone else. And in doing so, we often deprive them of the growth that their load was meant to produce in them.

Returning to Your Own Life

If you find yourself preoccupied with someone else's choices, someone else's path, someone else's relationship with God — notice that. Pray for them. Release the outcome. And return to your own garden.

What is yours to tend today? What is yours to address, yours to trust God with, yours to grow? Stay there.
