Midsummer and the Soul

Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes does not promise that every season is easy. It promises that seasons change — and that they are ordered.

The midsummer moment is worth receiving fully. Not hurrying toward the next thing, not already in autumn. Here, now, in the fullness of this particular time.

The Spirituality of Presence

One of the things that steals the present from us is our habit of living in the next thing — the next season, the next phase, the next resolution. But the present is the only place where God can actually be met.

Today, whatever the season of your actual life, ask: what is here right now that is worth receiving? Not what is coming. What is present.
