Look at the Birds

Jesus uses a disarming illustration: Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

This is not an argument for financial irresponsibility. It is a question about where we locate our security — in our own management of resources, or in the faithfulness of God.

Held in Uncertainty

Provision does not always look like abundance. Sometimes it looks like enough for today. Sometimes it arrives at the last moment. The birds do not have stockpiles — they are fed as they need.

If you are in a season of financial anxiety, bring it honestly to God. Then look for what is actually provided today. Not the full picture for the future — just what is here. The same God who attends to the sparrow is attending to you.
