The Children We Are Raising

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

As You Walk in the Way

God's instruction to Israel about teaching the next generation is embedded in ordinary moments: when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Not in formal lessons — in the texture of everyday life.

Faith is caught as much as taught. The small moments — the honest prayer before bed, the way you speak about other people, the return to God after failure — these are forming your children even when you are not trying.

The Grace for Imperfect Parents

You will not do this perfectly. No one does. There will be days when you are not the parent you want to be. The grace here is that God is also a parent — and he is the one ultimately at work in your children's lives.

Today, in whatever small way is available, be present with the people in your care. That is enough.
