Surrender Is Not Giving Up
Luke 22:42
Nevertheless, Not My Will
In Gethsemane, Jesus prays: Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done. This is not passive resignation. It is the conscious, costly choice to trust the Father's vision over his own preference.
The prayer does not pretend that Jesus wants what is coming. It expresses the honest wish that things were different — and then releases the outcome.
The Freedom in Letting Go
There is a strange freedom in surrender. When we stop trying to control what we cannot control, we put down an enormous weight. Not because the situation changes, but because we have stopped carrying it alone.
What are you holding tightly today? Name it. And then, slowly, consider handing it over — not to indifference, but to a God who sees more clearly than you do.
