The Long Wait
Lamentations 3:25
Good to Those Who Wait
Jeremiah writes from the rubble of Jerusalem. The city has fallen. Everything he knew has been dismantled. And yet from that place — not despite it but from within it — he writes: The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
This is not wishful thinking. It is testimony wrested from loss. Jeremiah had seen enough to know that waiting on God was not the same as waiting for nothing.
The Practice of Waiting
Waiting on God is not the same as inactivity. It is attentiveness. It is the slow, sometimes painful work of keeping your eyes open in the dark — not because you can see clearly, but because you believe light is coming.
Today, if you are in a season of waiting, let it be a waiting that keeps you present. Notice small mercies. Stay honest in prayer. Do not perform certainty you do not feel. The God who is good to those who wait is not asking for your confidence — just your continued turning toward him.
