When You Are Not Enough — and That Is Okay

2 Corinthians 12:9

The Grace in the Gap

We are taught, quietly and persistently, that weakness is something to overcome. Fix it, hide it, push through it. So when the days come — and they do — when we simply cannot manage everything, we reach for shame before we reach for grace.

But Paul writes something startling in his second letter to the Corinthians. He had asked God three times to remove a particular struggle. God said no — and then explained why: My power is made perfect in weakness. Not despite it. In it.

This is not a passage that makes weakness romantic or pain noble. It is simply honest about where God works. He does not wait for you to be sufficient before he shows up. He enters the gap itself.

What This Looks Like Today

When you reach the end of what you can do — when the patience runs out, when the clarity doesn't come, when the effort wasn't enough — that is not the moment God turns away. That is precisely the moment his strength has room to move. Bring what you have. It is enough to start.
