Here and Now
Psalm 118:24
Here and Now
I have a tendency to live in the future. Planning, anticipating, preparing — which is not all bad, but it means I am rarely fully here. Today can become a staging ground for tomorrow rather than a gift to be received on its own terms.
But this is the day the Lord has made. (Psalm 118:24) Not the day that is coming. Not the day I wish were different. This day — with its particular gifts and challenges, its ordinary texture, its unrepeatable hours.
I want to be here today. Fully present to the life I am actually living, rather than the one I am always about to live. There is grace available here, right now. I want to receive it.
