Trust in the Dark

Isaiah 50:10

Trust in the Dark

Isaiah 50:10 describes someone who walks in darkness and has no light, and counsels them to trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God. Not to find the light switch. Not to generate their own light. But to trust in the dark.

Dark seasons come. And the temptation in those seasons is to manufacture certainty — to take control, to force a resolution, to light our own fires. But Isaiah warns that those who light their own fires will lie down in torment.

Sometimes the most faithful thing I can do is walk through the dark, not pretending it's light, but not panicking either. Just: one step. His name. Trust.
