Watching the Birds
Matthew 6:26
Watching the Birds
I watched the birds at my feeder this morning for longer than I planned. There was something settling about it. They don't store up or gather into barns, Jesus says — and yet they are fed. Are you not of more value than they?
I don't want to read Matthew 6:26 as a dismissal of responsibility. I think Jesus is inviting a recalibration of my default setting: am I operating from anxiety or from trust? Because they produce very different actions, even when the actions look the same from the outside.
Today I watched the birds, and I chose trust. Even if just for the morning — it was something.
