Steadfast Love
Lamentations 3:22-23
Steadfast Love
The Hebrew word hesed appears over 200 times in the Old Testament, and it is one of the richest words in all of Scripture. It is often translated as steadfast love, lovingkindness, or faithful love — but none of those fully captures it. Hesed is covenantal loyalty that goes beyond obligation into something fierce and tender.
Lamentations 3:22-23 says His hesed is new every morning. Every morning. Not conditional on yesterday's performance. Not diminished by my failures. New. Fresh. Present.
Today's portion of grace is enough for today. I don't need to borrow from tomorrow or repay yesterday. His steadfast love is here, right now, new.
