The God of the Comeback

The God of the Comeback

Joel 2:25 contains one of the most astonishing promises in Scripture: I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten. Years. Not hours or weeks, but years.

This is the God of the comeback. The One who takes the losses we have accumulated — time, opportunity, relationship, health, trust — and restores. Not always identically to what was lost, but generously, creatively, redemptively.

I have seen this in my own life. Seasons I thought were simply lost — wasted, painful, devoid of fruit — have become the very soil from which unexpected things grew. God wastes nothing. Not even the locust years.
