Sowing in Tears

Psalm 126:5

Sowing in Tears

Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy. (Psalm 126:5)

This verse has been my companion through some of my hardest seasons. The image of sowing in tears — going out weeping, carrying seed — is one I understand viscerally. There are times when faithfulness is not triumphant. It is simply grief that keeps moving.

But the promise is the harvest. Not despite the tears but because of the sowing. The seeds planted in sorrow grow into something that couldn't have come any other way. There is a particular kind of fruit that only grief produces.

If you are sowing in tears today — keep going. The harvest is coming.
