Welcoming the Stranger

Hebrews 13:2

Welcoming the Stranger

Hebrews 13:2 has always captivated me: Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. There is something mysterious and beautiful in that — the idea that the person at the margin of our vision might be carrying something sacred.

Hospitality in Scripture is not about having a perfectly curated home or an impressive dinner party. It is about creating space for people to feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. It is about making room.

I want to be a person who makes room. For the unexpected guest, the inconvenient need, the person who doesn't quite fit. Because God made room for me when I had nothing to offer.
