The God Who Sees

Genesis 16:13

The God Who Sees

Hagar is one of my favorite figures in the Old Testament. Cast out, alone in the wilderness, weeping because she cannot bear to watch her son die — and in that moment, the angel of the Lord appears. What troubles you, Hagar? Do not be afraid.

And Hagar names God: El Roi. The God who sees me.

That name has stayed with me this week. In the moments I feel most invisible — most overlooked, most forgotten — He sees. Not just my circumstances but me. The full, complicated, beautiful, struggling me.

You are seen today. Fully and lovingly seen.
