To the One Holding the Ledger

Finding the grace to turn the page.

Dear sister, I know the weight of the book you are carrying. It is a heavy ledger, isn't it? Filled with the names of people who disappointed you, the moments you wish you could rewrite, and the debts you feel are still owed for the hurt you have endured. You have spent so long tracing the lines of those old grievances that your own fingers are stained with the ink of yesterday.

I am writing to you today because I want to invite you to do something radical: put the pen down. You have been waiting for someone to offer an apology that might never come, or for a situation to resolve itself in a way that feels fair. But forgiveness is not about declaring that what happened was right; it is about declaring that you are no longer willing to let your future be held hostage by the past. When we hold onto the bitterness of a closed door, we lose the ability to see the one being opened right in front of us.

Remember that we serve a God who makes all things new. As it is written, He does not dwell on the former things but is doing a new work that is already springing up. You do not have to be the woman you were when that wound was first carved into your life. You are allowed to set that burden at the foot of the Cross, not because it was light, but because He is strong enough to carry it for you.

Forgiveness is the oxygen that clears the air for your new beginning. It is the brave act of saying that the grace you have received is greater than the injury you have suffered. Take a breath, let the ledger go, and step into the quiet freedom of this morning. You are not defined by the chapters behind you; you are defined by the God who is currently walking beside you, whispering that it is time to turn the page.
