Poem
Resurrection Garden
She came in the dark looking for a body.
She found an empty tomb, two angels in white, and a gardener who knew her name.
The first post-resurrection appearance took place in a garden — the same setting as the first fall, the same early morning silence, the same question the serpent asked: What are you looking for?
But this time the answer was different. This time the gardener turned out to be the Lord. This time death reversed itself in the space between her question and His answer.
I think of this when my own gardens feel empty. When I come looking for what I have lost and find only silence and absence where I expected something living.
The gardener is already there. He knows my name. And He is doing something with the dead things that I cannot yet see.
