Poem

Morning Prayer

Before the day takes me, let me give the day to You.

Before the noise begins and the demands accumulate and I forget what matters in the management of what's urgent —

let me be here, just for this moment, with nothing to offer except my presence and my willingness.

Take the ordinary hours. Make them mean something beyond what I can see.

Let the conversation I almost skipped be the one that mattered. Let the work I do today build something I cannot yet name. Let the kindness I extend find the person who needed it.

I am Yours today. All of it — the good hours and the difficult ones, the prepared moments and the ones that catch me off guard.

Let me be present to the life You've given rather than the one I keep wishing for.

Amen.
