Scar Tissue
They told me scar tissue is stronger than ordinary skin. What grows back over the wound is tougher, more resistant.
I am trying to believe this is true of other kinds of healing too.
The places I have been broken and put back together, the relationships that fell apart and were slowly, painfully rebuilt, the faith that was shaken and survived the shaking —
perhaps these are stronger than the untested versions would have been.
Perhaps the kintsugi reading is the true one: that the gold in the cracks is not disguise but declaration —
this broke. it was mended. the mending is part of the beauty. the story is not ruined by the fracture. the fracture is part of the story.
