Letter to a Woman in Her Wilderness

For anyone in the in-between

Dear friend,

I know this season has a particular texture to it. Not dramatic enough to be a crisis, not clear enough to be a direction. Just the grey, ambiguous in-between that no one writes songs about and very few people admit to living in.

The wilderness is real. And it is not a mistake.

Moses spent forty years in his wilderness before the burning bush. Israel wandered forty years between Egypt and the Promised Land. Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness before His public ministry began. The wilderness is not the absence of God's plan — it is often the place where God's deepest work happens, precisely because there is nowhere else to look.

I want to tell you: the things being formed in you in this season are not visible yet. That does not mean they are not real. The roots go down first, long before the fruit appears. What feels like dormancy is often preparation.

You are not lost. You are not forgotten. You are not being punished. You are being prepared for something that will require exactly what this season is producing in you.

Hold on. And be gentle with yourself in the holding.

With love and solidarity, A fellow traveler
