A Promise for Your Morning

Often, we wake up already feeling behind, carrying the weight of unfinished tasks and lingering worries. We tend to view our lives as a finite resource that is rapidly depleting. However, the prophet reminds us that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies are new every morning. This means that regardless of how yesterday ended or what failed to get done, the slate is wiped clean by a God who offers a fresh supply of grace the moment your eyes open.

Releasing the Need to Control

Living in a state of constant 'doing' often blinds us to the reality of 'receiving.' We try to stockpile our own strength, attempting to solve future problems with today's limited energy. Yet, Lamentations teaches us that the Lord is our portion. When we lean into Him, we are admitting that our self-sufficiency is not the source of our endurance. Resting in Him allows us to stop striving for outcomes that are not yet ours to manage.

Practicing Daily Stillness

To truly apply this grace, we must intentionally pause. Stillness is not an escape from reality, but an act of trust. By choosing to sit with God before the busyness takes over, you acknowledge that He is the one sustaining you. You do not need to be a perfect woman to receive this grace; you only need to be a present one. His faithfulness is not dependent on your performance, but on His character, which remains steady through every season of your life.

For reflection

  1. What is one specific burden you are carrying today that actually belongs to God?
  2. How does it change your perspective to realize that God's mercy for you is not a leftover, but brand new for this morning?
  3. What does 'taking time for stillness' look like in your current schedule, and how can you protect that space?
  4. In what ways have you been relying on your own strength instead of trusting in the Lord as your portion?
